In Search of Generators | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
In the days before and after Hurricane Irene there has been a big demand for generators in many parts of our area, especially the Poconos.
Finding one has sometimes been difficult, if not impossible.
However, Newswatch 16 found that at one store in Wayne County, the shelves are now being restocked.
During the hurricane, high winds pushed trees into power lines cutting electricity to thousands and had utility crews fixing the damage.
Generators have been in short supply at most places, but now A & A Auto stores have some in stock and more on the way.
“You would be able to run your lights, cell phone, washing machine, oven, refrigerator,” said assistant store manager Laura Brink.
Newswatch 16 visited several A & A Auto stores in Wayne, Lackawanna and Luzerne counties.
“We're getting 11 from our warehouse. I believe two are spoken for already. We had to get them out of our Georgia warehouse,” said sales clerk Adam Jones.
“We're getting them in as quick as we can. They're a good price, sale price. We can arrange for a customer pick up or we can arrange to pick them up here,” said store manager Dave Burke.
At the Honesdale store not only do they have generators, they have gas cans to fuel the thing.
Store officials predict some people will buy generators getting ready for the next time.
The experts said the best advice is to check around to see which stores do have generators in stock, and make sure you check with an electrician if you're not sure how to hook one up.
